ONCOLOGY PROGRAMME
Our oncology service, which offers this programme in Cuba, is led by a senior clinical oncologist. The multidisciplinary team consists of internists, radiologists, pathologists, haematologists, surgeons and other doctors. They are responsible for determining the most appropriate treatment according to the diagnosis and stage of the disease.
This programme is being carried out at the National Institute of Oncology and Radiological Biology. There, the results of cancer treatment are comparable to those of internationally recognised and specialised centres.
The programme is also supported by Cuban scientists from a centre for molecular immunology that has developed therapeutic vaccines that have been proven effective against certain types of tumours, such as lung, head and neck, and some brain tumours.
